Working with Drafts and Revisions
Drafts let you prepare content privately, while revisions give you a complete history of every change. Together they make editing safe, collaborative and easy to reverse.
This article explains how to use both features so you never lose work and can always go back to an earlier version.
Working in Draft
A draft is only visible to logged-in editors, so you can take your time without anyone seeing unfinished work.
- Save as draft until the content is ready.
- Preview the draft to see how it will look live.
- Share a preview link with colleagues for feedback.
- Publish only when you and reviewers are happy.
Using Revision History
Each save creates a restore point. This is invaluable when several people edit the same page.
- Open the revisions panel for the page.
- Compare two versions side by side.
- Identify which change you want to keep.
- Restore the chosen version if needed.
Avoiding Lost Work
Revisions protect you, but a few habits make lost work almost impossible in the first place.
- Save regularly rather than in one long session.
- Avoid editing the same page as a colleague at once.
- Write longer drafts in a separate document first.
- Confirm your save before closing the browser.
