WordPress Backups: What We Protect and How Often
A backup is a saved copy of your site that lets us restore it if something goes wrong — a failed update, a hacking attempt, or simple human error. Without backups, recovery can be slow, expensive or impossible.
This article explains what a complete WordPress backup includes and how often we take them.
What a Full Backup Contains
- The database holding your posts, pages and settings.
- The uploads folder with your images and media.
- Your theme and plugin files.
- Core WordPress files.
How Often and Where
Backup frequency should match how often your content changes. A busy shop needs more frequent backups than a static brochure site. We store copies off-site so a server failure cannot take both site and backup at once.
| Site type | Backup frequency | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Brochure site | Weekly | Last 4 copies |
| Active blog | Daily | Last 30 days |
| Online shop | Hourly / real-time | Extended |
