Setting a Featured Image and Why It Matters
A featured image is the main image associated with a post or page. It often appears at the top of the article, in blog listings, and when your content is shared on social media.
Setting one for every post makes your site look polished and improves how links appear elsewhere.
Where Featured Images Appear
- At the top of the single post or page.
- In blog and category listing grids.
- In related-post and search results.
- As the preview image on Facebook, LinkedIn and X.
How to Set One
- Open the post in the editor.
- Find the 'Featured image' panel in the sidebar.
- Upload or select an image from the media library.
- Add alt text and click 'Set featured image'.
Choosing a Good Image
Pick a clear, on-brand image at a generous size — around 1,200 by 630 pixels works well for social sharing. Avoid tiny or heavily cropped images that look poor when scaled up.
