Schema for Articles, Products and FAQs
Schema markup describes your content to search engines using a shared vocabulary. While structured data in general unlocks rich results, three types deliver value for almost every business: Article, Product and FAQ.
Adding the right one helps your listings stand out in the results and helps Google understand exactly what each page offers, which matters more as search becomes increasingly answer-led.
Choosing the Right Type
Each type suits a different kind of page, and matching them correctly is the key to eligibility.
Implementation Tips
We add schema in the recommended JSON-LD format, keep it in step with the visible content, and validate every page with the Rich Results Test before it goes live. Marking up content visitors cannot see, or leaving stale prices in Product markup, breaches the guidelines and is best avoided.
| Schema | Use it on | Possible rich result |
|---|---|---|
| Article | Blog posts and news | Headline, author and date |
| Product | Shop product pages | Price, stock and star ratings |
| FAQ | Pages with genuine Q&A content | Expandable questions in results |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add FAQ schema to any page?
Only if the questions and answers genuinely appear on that page for visitors. Marking up hidden content breaches the guidelines.
Does schema guarantee rich results?
No. It makes you eligible, but Google decides when to display them.
