Scheduling Posts and Content Calendars
You do not have to publish a post the moment you finish writing it. WordPress can schedule content to go live at a future date and time, which is invaluable for planning ahead.
Combined with a simple content calendar, scheduling helps you publish consistently without last-minute rushes.
How to Schedule a Post
- Write and finalise your post as normal.
- In the Publish panel, click the date next to 'Publish'.
- Choose a future date and time.
- Click 'Schedule' instead of 'Publish'.
Why a Content Calendar Helps
- Spreads publishing evenly through the month.
- Aligns content with campaigns and seasons.
- Gives writers clear deadlines.
- Avoids long silent gaps followed by bursts.
A Note on Time Zones
Scheduled times use the time zone set in your WordPress settings, not necessarily your local one. We configure this to UK time so scheduling behaves as you expect.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if a scheduled post fails?
Occasionally a 'missed schedule' occurs if the site has low traffic at that moment. A small plugin or our monitoring can prevent it.
