Phishing Awareness for Your Team

Phishing Awareness for Your Team

Phishing emails try to trick your team into handing over passwords or clicking dangerous links, and they are getting more convincing. A few minutes of awareness training pays for itself many times over.

This guide explains how to spot a phishing attempt, what to do with a suspicious message, and how to build a culture where reporting is encouraged.

Spotting a Phishing Email

Phishing relies on urgency and impersonation. Slowing down to check is your best defence.

  • An urgent or threatening tone pushing fast action.
  • A sender address that does not quite match the brand.
  • Links that point somewhere unexpected on hover.
  • Requests for passwords, payments or personal details.

What to Do

When in doubt, do not click. Verifying through another channel takes moments and avoids disaster.

  1. Do not click links or open attachments.
  2. Confirm with the supposed sender by phone or a known address.
  3. Report it to your IT contact or us.
  4. Delete it once it has been reported.
