How We Handle Dependencies and Blockers

How We Handle Dependencies and Blockers

A dependency is something a task needs before it can start or finish; a blocker is anything stopping work in its tracks. Both are normal on any real project, and how a team handles them often decides whether a deadline holds.

We work hard to see dependencies coming and to clear blockers fast, because a single unresolved blocker can quietly stall far more work than it first appears.

Common Sources

Many delays trace back to a handful of recurring causes, several of which sit outside the delivery team.

  • Waiting on access, credentials or environments.
  • Pending decisions or sign-off from stakeholders.
  • Third-party systems, APIs or suppliers.
  • Content, assets or data we are waiting to receive.

How We Keep Things Moving

We make blockers visible and chase them down rather than letting them sit quietly on a board.

  1. We flag dependencies during planning, not after.
  2. We raise blockers immediately at stand-up.
  3. We tell you promptly when we need something from you.

If you need a hand with any of this, your Progressive Robot delivery team is ready to help. Raise a ticket from the Support area of your client portal or speak to your account manager and we will guide you through the next steps.
