Exporting Reports and Data
Sooner or later you will want to take data out of your system — for accounting, a board report or simply a backup. Knowing how to export cleanly saves time and avoids messy spreadsheets.
This guide explains the common export formats, how to run an export and how to handle the resulting files responsibly.
Choosing a Format
Different jobs suit different file types. Picking the right one means less reformatting afterwards.
- CSV: best for importing into spreadsheets or other systems.
- Excel: handy when you want formatting preserved.
- PDF: ideal for sharing a fixed, readable report.
Running an Export
Exports usually live near the data they relate to, such as orders, users or analytics.
- Filter to the date range or records you need.
- Choose Export and pick your format.
- Wait for the file to download.
- Store sensitive exports securely and delete copies when done.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is exported data covered by GDPR?
Yes. Exports containing personal data must be stored securely and only kept as long as needed. Treat downloaded files with the same care as the live system.
