Dark and Light Logo Variants

Dark and Light Logo Variants

Your logo will appear on every kind of background, from a white page to a dark photograph. Having dedicated light and dark variants ensures it always stays clear and legible rather than disappearing or looking boxed-in.

Planning these variants is a small piece of work that prevents a great many awkward situations later.

Why One Version Is Not Enough

A dark logo vanishes on a dark background, and a coloured logo can clash with a busy photo. Providing variants designed for different backgrounds keeps the mark readable everywhere.

A Typical Variant Set

  • Full-colour version for light backgrounds.
  • Reversed or white version for dark backgrounds.
  • A single-colour version for difficult cases.
  • A version with a subtle container for busy images.

Using Them Correctly

Our guidelines explain which variant to use on which background, so the logo is always chosen deliberately rather than forced onto a surface where it struggles to be seen.
