Confidentiality & NDAs: What Is Protected and How

Your business information, technical details, and commercial data are treated with the strictest confidence. This article explains how confidentiality is handled within your engagement with Progressive Robot.

What Is Confidential Information?

Confidential information includes anything shared with us in connection with your project that is not publicly available, including:

  • Business strategy, product roadmaps, financial data
  • Technical systems, source code, architecture, infrastructure details
  • Customer data and personal information
  • Trade secrets and proprietary processes
  • Commercial terms of your engagement with us

Standard Confidentiality Obligations

Our standard contract includes mutual confidentiality obligations. This means:

  • Progressive Robot will not disclose your confidential information to any third party without your consent, except as required by law or to deliver the project (e.g. disclosing to a trusted subcontractor under equivalent confidentiality terms)
  • Confidentiality obligations survive the end of the contract — typically for a period of two years post-engagement (refer to your specific contract for exact terms)
  • Our team members who handle your information are bound by employment contracts with confidentiality clauses

Requesting a Separate NDA

If you require a standalone Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) — for example, before sharing detailed information during the pre-sales or proposal phase — please contact your Account Manager. We offer:

  • Mutual NDA — both parties are bound (most common)
  • One-way NDA — only Progressive Robot is bound (used when you share sensitive data before any agreement is in place)

Please allow 2–3 business days for NDA review and execution. We sign via DocuSign or equivalent e-signature platform.

Data Protection & GDPR

Confidentiality obligations run alongside (but separately from) our data protection responsibilities under UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018. If your project involves us processing personal data on your behalf, a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) will also be required. See the article on Data Privacy & GDPR Compliance for more details.

Exceptions to Confidentiality

Confidentiality obligations do not apply to information that:

  • Was already in the public domain at the time of disclosure
  • We independently developed without reference to your information
  • We are required by law or court order to disclose (we will notify you promptly if this occurs)
  • You have explicitly consented to us sharing
