Backups: What Is Automated and What Is Not
Backups are your safety net, but it is vital to know exactly what is protected automatically and what relies on you. Assuming everything is covered when it is not can be a costly surprise.
This article clarifies what Progressive Robot backs up for you, what falls outside that, and the simple steps you can take to fill any gaps.
What We Typically Automate
Most managed sites include scheduled backups as standard. We confirm the exact arrangement in your service agreement.
- The website files and code.
- The database holding your content and orders.
- Regular snapshots kept for a set retention period.
- Off-site copies for disaster recovery.
What May Not Be Covered
Some things sit outside the website itself and need your own routine.
- Files stored only on staff computers.
- Email, unless we host it for you.
- Third-party services connected by integration.
- Local copies of exported reports.
| Item | Automated? |
|---|---|
| Website files | Yes |
| Database | Yes |
| Your local documents | No — your responsibility |
