Accessibility Checklist for Editors
Accessibility means making sure everyone, including people with disabilities, can use your website. Much of it is in the hands of editors, not just developers, and the basics are easy to build into your routine.
This checklist covers the everyday choices that make the biggest difference, so your content works for the widest possible audience.
Everyday Checks
Run through these each time you publish. They take moments and prevent the most common barriers.
- Add meaningful alt text to every informative image.
- Use headings in order rather than for visual size.
- Write descriptive link text instead of “click here”.
- Ensure text has strong contrast against its background.
Content Structure
How you organise a page affects screen-reader users and keyboard navigation as much as it does sighted readers.
- Start each page with a single clear H1.
- Group related content under logical subheadings.
- Use proper lists for steps and collections.
- Caption or transcribe video and audio where you can.
If you need a hand with any of this, your Progressive Robot delivery team is ready to help. Raise a ticket from the Support area of your client portal or speak to your account manager and we will guide you through the next steps.
