Accessibility of Privacy Information
Privacy information only works if people can actually understand it. Transparency means more than publishing a policy — it means making that information clear, findable and accessible to everyone.
This is general guidance on presenting privacy information well.
Make It Understandable
- Use plain language and short sentences.
- Break content into clear, labelled sections.
- Avoid legalese and undefined jargon.
- Offer a concise summary that links to detail.
Make It Accessible
Ensure your privacy pages meet web accessibility standards: good colour contrast, proper heading structure, and content that works with screen readers and keyboard navigation.
Make It Findable
Link to your privacy information from the footer, from forms and wherever you collect data. Hidden information is not transparent, however well written.
